PARTNERSHIP
As early as Spring of 8th Grade, Valery begins the college planning process with a Family Meeting. This helps determine an action plan that aligns with the goals of parents and their child. Close and consistent communication is achieved with Bi- Weekly and as needed Check-ins for status reports, troubleshooting, and deadline reminders.


STRATEGY

Successful college applicants develop a “theme” over tine that showcases their talents, interests, and values. Valery helps her students seek out opportunities both in and out of school. This results in meaningful experiences that enhance their resume and acceptances for college and beyond, such as the creation of a “Purpose Project.”

ESSAYS
Valery's use of a five-step recursive writing process ensures that students’ finished pieces reflect their authentic voice. Colleges typically require supplemental essays in addition to the 650-word Common App main essay. Valery assists with the selection of attachments, such as a link to a website, fine or performing arts video, research paper, etc.
Valery's Network includes specialists in STEM, Fine and Performing Arts, and Deferral and Waitlist Outreach.
What's your Big Idea? As a TED-Ed Student Talks Leader, Valery invites her students to participate in a TED-Ed Student Talk Group which is a highlight on a resume. (no fee)
